I Have a Stall.

Picture
Here's a heads-up: I will have a stall at the Bradford  Steampunk Market.

It's part of the Leeds Steampunk Market, which I visited a couple of months ago at Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills.

This time, it's at the Bradford Industrial Museum in... Bradford! Click here for details of where to find them.

It runs from 10 - 4 on the 4th and 5th of March and I will be selling on the 5th.

The last one was a great event with lots of great stalls and steampunk merchandise on sale from illustrations, to jewellery, to LARP props and more. Plus, there were some really fun things happening such as Coffee Jousting! Yep - that was a new one to me!

I'm entirely sure this one will be too! Plus, I will be there!

If you come, don't be at all afraid to dress up for it! You won't be alone in it.

Professor Elemental and His Amazing Friends Album Cover - Artwork by Ben McCaffreyBen McCaffrey's album cover artwork
I first came across Professor Elemental somehow on YouTube six years ago as my Facebook's "On This Day" tells me.

I have no idea how I came across it, but The Prof's track "Fighting Trousers" was my (and I suspect many others') introduction to the world of Chap-Hop; hip-hop in the style of an old-fashioned English gent, and Elemental as one of it's more eccentric and best known proponents.

Steampunk doesn't have a specific musical style, but I can think of few artists more fitting to steampunk than live staple, Professor Elemental.

In his pith-helmet and khaki explorer gear, Elemental's persona veers hilariously between experienced, knowledgeable guide to the strange world of his albums, and dangerously clueless halfwit.

There's a sense in his albums that science and adventuring is being done "properly" by others beyond the music, but that The Prof. didn't have the patience for all that nonsense (and they didn't want him in their club), so he grabbed a spanner, nicked some old broken parts and cobbled together his own airship.

I was a fan immediately and several years, several live gigs, a few albums, a drawing or two and even once performing on-stage, dressed as a gentleman chimpanzee, with the man himself and here I am reviewing his latest album.

My New Cute Christmas Cards.

Picture
The latest additions to my shop are these cute animal Christmas cards.

I wanted to draw a cute Christmas cards that was a little simpler than my Coggingtons Christmas cards so I was thinking of cute animals. It was my wonderful girlfriend's idea to do a series of four cards that all fit together to make a cute whole image.

Who Do We Dress For?...

Who Do We Dress For: A Digital Feminist Cartoon by Curtis Allen Illustrator
I did this illustration the other day, just because I liked the feminist leaning quote, and then I shared it on my Instagram and Facebook where it seemed to go down pretty well, so it's now available as a print in my shop!

It's just £6 + p&p.

What do you think of her?
Do you agree with the quote?

Drop me a comment and let me know.

It's Mother's Day in a month's time in the UK - March the 5th! Put it in your diaries.

My realisation of this coincided with me reading and hearing a few bad news stories focused around misogyny and poor treatment of women.

My mother is a woman.

I read an article on Wednesday that suggested that instead of giving more publicity to proponents of misogyny by sharing their links and decrying them online, we post links to women's shelters on them instead. It got me to thinking about what else I could do to help in a similar way.
