The Unpredictable Wedding of Fred and Fred.
The Venue
On June 22, 2024, I had the absolute pleasure of DJing one of my favorite unpredictable weddings to date: the wedding of Fred and Fred at Rushall Farm. The venue, an old converted barn, was tastefully decorated and provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable night. The rustic charm combined with modern amenities made it a delightful place to celebrate love.
Arrival and Setup
When I arrived, the wedding was already in full swing. Hilarious best men stories filled the air with raucous laughter, setting a joyous tone for the evening. As I walked in, I was introduced and greeted with a round of applause—a moment that made me feel incredibly welcomed. Carla, one of the venue staff, was instrumental in getting me sorted with where I needed to set up and what the schedule would be.
The First Dance
The first dance set the stage for what would be a night of crazy fun. Fred and Fred chose a reggae cover of “Only You” by Donnoya Drake, followed by “We Are Family” by Sister Sledge. From that moment on, the dancefloor was never empty. The energy was palpable, and it was clear that this crowd was ready to party.
Dancefloor Antics
As a wedding party DJ, I thrive on the energy and excitement that a lively crowd brings and I love an unpredictable wedding! One of the highlights of the night was when the Freds were lifted onto people’s shoulders and had a good ol’ dance while they were up there. Not long after, they were lifted again, this time joined by about half of the guests who climbed onto the shoulders of others. The sight of so many people dancing and celebrating in such a unique way was truly unforgettable.
Crazy Crowd and Fancy Hats
The crowd was amusingly unpredictable, adding to the night’s charm. Fancy hats were being passed around, and wild dance moves took over the floor. It was one of those nights where you never knew what was going to happen next, and that spontaneity made it all the more exciting.
The Music
The setlist was a mix of classics and modern hits, ensuring there was something for everyone. Songs like “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars, “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers, and “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran kept the energy high. Later in the night, we turned to some all-time classics that got everyone singing and dancing wildly.
The Grand Finale
We finished the night with everyone forming a circle around Fred and Fred for “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond. It was a perfect ending, with everyone singing along and celebrating the newlyweds. The atmosphere was electric, and it was clear that no one wanted the night to end.
Final Thoughts
This wedding was sublime from start to finish. The combination of a beautiful venue, a lively and unpredictable crowd, and the love and joy shared by Fred and Fred made it a night to remember. It was an honor to be a part of such a special day, and it reaffirmed why I love what I do. Here’s to many more nights like this!
