I’m Curtis: Birmingham-based DJ, illustrator, planetarium presenter, occasional pink-hair enthusiast and somebody who still genuinely enjoys finding the next right song.

Nineteen years
of making rooms move.
I learned in rock bars and alternative club nights, then discovered that weddings are the most interesting rooms of all.
I’ve DJed around Birmingham, across the UK and at Download Festival twice. I know alternative music with the depth of somebody who lives in it, not somebody who bought a compilation to service a niche.
Weddings added the part I love most: joining different worlds. Your teenage friends, parents, work people, nieces, uncles and fellow scene lifers all arrive with different histories. Finding a route through that without sanding off your identity is a brilliant problem.

Most bookings are me.
Some are trusted associates.
I am deliberately keeping the team small. If I am already booked—or an associate is the better fit for the logistics—I may offer one of the DJs I personally trust to work under the Curtis Allen DJ banner.
You will always know exactly who is being offered before you sign or pay for anything. I still oversee the planning and preparation, and the same no-cookie-cutter approach applies.

Odd little worlds.
Outside DJing I illustrate and present in a planetarium. That combination probably explains the logo, the curiosity and the tendency to think about a set as something with shape, colour and an arc.
None of that means your wedding needs a concept album. It means I care about craft without taking myself too seriously.
