A Night to Remember: DJing at Subside After Alice in Chains UK

Last night at Subside was fun! I had the pleasure of DJing at Subside after the incredible Alice in Chains tribute act, “Alice in Chains UK.” These guys were phenomenal and really set the stage for an epic night. They rocked the house and the energy they left behind fueled an unforgettable evening.

I started later than usual due to the tribute act. As the night kicked off, the dance floor quickly filled up, and I could feel the buzz in the air. One of the highlights of my night DJing at Subside was seeing my girlfriend, Kate, out there dancing her heart out. She was having a blast, especially when her friends arrived. Watching her and her friends light up the dance floor was truly a joy.

However, the night wasn’t without its challenges. There were so many song requests coming my way – too many if I’m being honest. Don’t get me wrong, I love fulfilling requests and seeing the joy on people’s faces when they hear their favourite tracks. But last night was a bit overwhelming. There were constant distractions, with people trying to pull me in all sorts of musical directions. Some folks were very demanding, making multiple requests throughout the night.

I want to take a moment to remind everyone that a DJ is not a jukebox. A request is exactly that – a request, not a requirement. It might get refused. Sometimes, it might not fit the vibe, or I might not know the track. And coming up and simply barking a song at me is unlikely to yield fruitful results; manners go a long way. Being demanding will greatly lower your chances. Also, for every song I played last night, I had about 3 requests come in! Bear in mind that with so many people making so many requests, it becomes physically impossible to play them all in the time, so please consider how much you really want each of those requests.

On a brighter note, a lovely surprise was seeing my old friend Louise. She used to be a regular at Subside, but I hadn’t seen her in years. Unfortunately, I didn’t get much of a chance to catch up with her amidst the chaos but that was nice.

The playlist for the night was a wild ride, featuring everything from Alice in Chains to Pendulum, Red Hot Chili Peppers to Slipknot, and My Chemical Romance to Paramore. Each track kept the crowd moving and grooving, and despite the whirlwind of requests, we managed to keep the energy high and the dance floor packed.

In the end, DJing at Subside was an incredibly fun experience. The challenges only made the good moments shine brighter. Seeing everyone enjoying themselves, from Kate and her friends to the unexpected reunion with Louise, made all the effort worthwhile. So, next time you’re out and about, remember to enjoy the music, make a request if you’d like, but also appreciate the art of DJing. We know what we’re doing. It’s a balancing act of reading the crowd, mixing the right tracks, and keeping the party alive. Until next time, keep dancing and rocking on!
